Apart from perusing the many small independent shops and boutique outlets, you can admire the listed 1930s architecture of the art deco Whitleys building, with its magnificent spiraling staircase. Just to the south of the tube station is the beautiful Kensington Gardens and Kensington Palace, home to Prince WIlliam and Kate. The palace is open to the public throughout the year and as a very pleasant cafe attached with wonderful views of the gardens. Take a stroll around neighbouring Hyde Park and rent a boat for a row or pedal on the Serpentine or take in some art in the Serpentine Gallery.When it comes to eating and drinking, the tasteful yet down to earth area of Bayswater will not disappoint.
